Pre-Puppy Socialization Requirements for Your Puppy

Before embarking on the exciting journey of puppy socials, your furry friend needs to meet specific health and safety criteria:

Vaccination Essentials: Your puppy must have received at least one vaccination against distemper and one against parvovirus. These vaccinations protect your puppy’s health during these formative weeks.

Canine Influenza Consideration: In light of the 2018 Canine Influenza outbreak in the Bay Area, we strongly advise discussing the Canine Flu vaccine with your veterinarian. While it’s not mandatory, it’s a recommended precaution to safeguard your puppy’s health.

Registration Requirement: To participate in our puppy socials, you must complete the registration process. This step ensures we maintain a safe and controlled environment for all attendees.

Age and Continuity of Care: Puppies younger than 16 weeks are welcome for their initial socialization experience. Based on their progress, puppies can continue attending sessions as long as they find them beneficial. Additionally, puppies should have been under your care for at least 7 days before their first social/class to ensure they are acclimated and comfortable in their new environment.

Veterinary Oversight: Finally, it is vital to ensure that your puppy has been under the care of a local veterinarian and has undergone a health check at least seven days before attending puppy classes. This step confirms that your puppy is healthy and ready to engage with others.

By adhering to these guidelines, you’re setting the stage for a fruitful and enjoyable socialization experience for your puppy. These sessions are designed to nurture their development, helping them grow into well-adjusted and friendly adult dogs.
