FIELD TRIP – TO A DOG FRIENDLY PARK

This week’s field trip is to visit a local dog friendly park to watch other dogs playing. If your puppy is too young to walk on the ground you can carry them, but the idea of this trip is to let your puppy watch other dogs playing and running a round at a distance.

Make sure you are far enough away that your puppy is relaxed whilst they’re watching. They will be taking in the different sights, sounds, smells and textures around them.

It’s a good idea not to let your puppy run around with unfamiliar dogs the first time you visit the park, as they will already have a lot of new experiences to process just from watching at a distance. The last thing you want is to overwhelm them or have a bad experience around dogs at such a critical age.

Be sure to take some of your puppy’s favourite treats with you so you can reward them throughout their visit and build up a brilliant association.
